Aerospace O-ring family, fluorocarbon, AMS7276
AS3209 O-rings: fluorocarbon 70 to 80 to AMS7276
AS3209-XXX is a fluorocarbon (FKM) O-ring made from AMS7276 material, in the standard AS568 size the dash names, and AS3208-YY is the same material in the straight-thread boss sizes. AMS7276 is the high-temperature, fluid-resistant, low compression set fluorocarbon in the 70 to 80 hardness class, for seals in fuel systems and specific engine oil systems. All three documents are current, and AMS7276 carries an SAE non-government qualified products list.

Designator to AS568 size
AS3209-XXX is the AS568-XXX size and AS3208-YY the boss size AS568-9YY, per the manufacturers' cross-references. AS83248/1-XXX and M83248/1-XXX use the same three-digit dash on the same AMS7276 material.

Millimeter values are converted from the inch table. The dash is a size lookup and never a material; the same dash on another family on the mil-spec hub is the same size in a different document. Full chart: AS568 size chart.
Where the documents stand
This family is SAE-native: AS3209 and AS3208 are size sheets whose material is AMS7276, so there is no MIL supersession chain of their own. SAE revised AS3208 to A on 2020-05-12 and AS3209 to C on 2021-08-03. AMS7276 is one of the four SAE successors that DLA ASSIST names for the cancelled MIL-R-83248, and it is also the material behind AS83248/1, the drawing that replaced MIL-R-83248/1; that is how the AS3209 family and the M83248/1 callout come to share a compound document.
AS3209 and AS83248/1 are two SAE drawings on the same AMS7276 material and the same AS568 dashes. Whether a print's AS3209 callout can be satisfied by an AS83248/1 part, or the reverse, is the print owner's decision. The drawing the print names is the one quoted.
The base polymer
The polymer behind this family is fluorocarbon (FKM). The Parker O-Ring Handbook ORD 5700 family range on file for VitonĀ® (FKM) is -26 C to 204 C; that is the polymer family's range, not this document's requirement, and the compound sheet for the qualified grade governs. Parker notes that specification temperature limits do not necessarily represent operating temperature limits.

How we quote this family
Send the designator as printed, AS3209-XXX or AS3208-YY, with the dash, the quantity and the certification the order needs. We quote it supplied against the AS drawing in an AMS7276 compound made by manufacturers on the SAE qualified products list, with a certificate of conformance and lot traceability. If the print names a compound number, include it and we quote that compound.

Frequently asked
What is AS3209 and what material does it specify?
AS3209 is an SAE aerospace O-ring size sheet whose material is AMS7276: fluorocarbon (FKM), 70 to 80 hardness, high-temperature and fluid resistant with low compression set, for seals in fuel systems and specific engine oil systems. It is current at revision C of 2021-08-03. Parker ORD 5700 (2021) pairs V1164-75 with AMS7276.
What is the difference between AS3209 and AS3208?
Size series. AS3209-XXX carries the standard AS568 sizes with a three-digit dash, and AS3208-YY carries the straight-thread boss sizes with a two-digit dash that maps to AS568-9YY. Both are AMS7276 fluorocarbon.
How does AS3209 relate to M83248/1?
Both are fluorocarbon O-rings on the AMS7276 compound document in the same AS568 sizes. M83248/1 was the MIL slash sheet, cancelled in 2008 and replaced by AS83248/1, whose title reads O-ring molded from AMS7276 material; AS3209 is a separate SAE size sheet on the same material. They are two drawings, so we quote the one the print names and leave interchange to the print owner.
Does AMS7276 have a QPL?
Yes, a non-government one: DLA ASSIST prints Non-government QPL against SAE-AMS7276, meaning the qualified products list is held by SAE rather than in the DLA database. We supply parts made by the listed manufacturers and the listing appears on the certification. Conquest Seal is a distributor and is not itself on the list.
