TCV oil seal: pressure-resistant stiffened lip
A TCV seal stiffens the lip rather than backing it up, so it holds a moderate pressure that would push a standard lip onto the shaft. Conquest Seal supplies radial shaft seals, also sold as rotary shaft seals, rotary lip seals and oil seals, in inch and metric sizes. Send the part number or drawing and we quote it.

Radial lip seals
A flexible lip pressed against a rotating shaft by a garter spring, held in the housing by a case. This is what most people mean by an oil seal, and it retains lubricant at low pressure rather than holding pressure.
When to use it
Rotating shafts at moderate pressure, on relatively small diameters. A standard lip seal will not hold the pressure but the duty does not warrant a supported design. The lip is made more rigid rather than backed up.
When another type fits better
- TCN: Pressure-resistant lip with an auxiliary cage, when the pressure is higher than a stiffened lip can hold.
