TC oil seal: sealing lip and dust lip, rubber-covered outside diameter
A TC seal is a spring-loaded sealing lip plus a dust lip in a rubber-covered case: the default oil seal where the outboard side sees fine dust. Conquest Seal supplies radial shaft seals, also sold as rotary shaft seals, rotary lip seals and oil seals, in inch and metric sizes. Send the part number or drawing and we quote it.

Radial lip seals
A flexible lip pressed against a rotating shaft by a garter spring, held in the housing by a case. This is what most people mean by an oil seal, and it retains lubricant at low pressure rather than holding pressure.
When to use it
Retaining oil or grease with fine dust on the outboard side. The most common shape of the family, and the default where the outboard side is not clean.
When another type fits better
- SC: Single lip, rubber-covered outside diameter, when the outboard side is clean and the duty is marginal on temperature.
- TCK: Fabric dust lip, rubber-covered outside diameter, when the contamination is coarse dirt or sand rather than fine dust.
Watch for
A dust lip is not free. The second lip adds friction heat, so the sealing edge runs hotter than on a seal without one, and a duty that was marginal on heat can fail with the second lip added.
A designation match is not a fit, form and function match. These schemes measure different things, and the same letter means different things in different catalogs. Confirm the three dimensions, the lip material and the duty against the drawing before substituting any seal.
